Библиотеки Кипра — новые информационные центры

Мы стали скептически относиться к библиотекам, ведь большую часть информации уже давно можно получить онлайн. Пожалуй, прошли те времена, когда детские книги или материалы для научных работ можно было взять только по читательскому билету. Библиотека сегодня — это уже далеко не только книги, это, в первую очередь, информационный центр.

Древние хранилища книг

В древние времена доступ в библиотеки имели лишь привилегированные касты населения, а некоторая литература ценилась на вес золота. Поскольку Кипр был ранним центром христианства, многие кодексы и рукописи с острова можно сегодня найти в самых значимых библиотеках мира — в Ватикане, Париже и Лондоне. Самые ранние библиотеки и архивы на Кипре были при храмах богов — Афродиты в Пафосе, Аполлона в Куриуме и храме Кибеле в Соли. Именно в городе-государстве Соли, расположенном в заливе Морфу, находилась самая первая известная публичная библиотека Кипра. Этот город был основан в VI веке до нэ, а с 1974 года де-факто находится на оккупированной территории.

История главной библиотеки Кипра

На протяжении многих веков, благодаря выгодному расположению в Средиземном море, Кипр был интересен для европейских и восточных правителей. Завоеватели считали своим долгом уничтожить культурное наследие своих предшественников, особенно, если они исповедовали другую религию. Книги сохранялись в очень малых количествах в отдалённых церквях и монастырях, куда лишь изредка доходили сражения. И короли, и султаны имели собственные книжные коллекции, доступ к которым имела лишь знать.

Публичная библиотека современного формата была основана в 1927 году в Никосии по инициативе британского колониального губернатора, сэра Рональда Сторрса. До 1954 года учреждение находилось под контролем муниципалитета Никосии, однако в 1968 году, согласно Закону о публичной библиотеке Кипра, перешла в управление Министерства образования и культуры, а их коллекции совместили. В 1974 году библиотеку вернули в первоначальное здание, находящееся на стенах венецианской крепости в Никосии. Ядром библиотечной коллекции стали гуманитарные издания по литературе и общественным наукам. В общей сложности, в публичной библиотеке находятся около 60 000 изданий на греческом, английском и других языках.

К концу 1974 году на Кипре насчитывалось 107 публичных библиотек, 36 из которых находились на оккупированной территории. Также в этом районе было 194 школьные библиотеки. Большинство этих коллекций уничтожили за время оккупации, как и многие частные собрания редких книг. Время от времени, украденные или незаконно вывезенные уникальные экземпляры появляются на аукционах в Европе.

На протяжении многих десятилей на Кипре не было библиографии, то есть практически не существовало перечня хранящихся книг. В 1960 году был выпущен первый кипрский библиографический бюллетень — первая попытка какой-либо классификации изданий. Бюллетень был создан на основе Десятичной классификации Дьюи, согласно которой используются цифровые индексы для обозначения категорий и упрощения системы каталогизации.

В 1985 году Кипрское библиографическое общество в Никосии начало издавать бюллетень, в котором указывались все опубликованные книги Кипра за предыдущий год.

Современный формат библиотек

Библиотеки современного мира уже несут не только просветительскую нагрузку, но и стали своеобразными общественными пространствами. Модернизация библиотек привела к тому, что сегодня мы видим центр знаний, технологий, дизайна и коммуникации вместо привычных стеллажей с книгами.

Любой житель Кипра может посещать библиотеку и получить доступ ко всем собраниям. Для оформления абонемента, предоставляемого на год с правом продления, необходимо предъявить паспорт/вид на жительство, заполнить анкету и оплатить членский взнос в размере 10 евро.

Лимассол

С 1970-х годов городская библиотека находится в особняке Пилавакиса. Двухэтажное здание построил признанный гений неоклассицизма Эдуард Нирмэнс.

В 2017 году, после семи лет реставрационных работ, Муниципальная библиотека вновь открыла свои двери для посетителей. Благодаря сотрудничеству муниципалитета Лимассола и Университета технологий Кипра особняк превратился в полноценное собрание не только книг кипрского происхождения, но и международных изданий. Особенно стоит выделить коллекцию книг по искусству, философии, истории искусства на английском, французском, немецком, испанском, итальянском, греческом языке. В комфортном помещении на цокольном этаже можно найти уникальные издания о выдающихся музеях, скульпторах, художниках и философах мира. Однако важнейшая коллекция библиотеки находится в отделе кипроведения. Здесь собраны старые выпуски газет и журналов Кипра, начиная с конца XIX века, такие, как, например, известный журнал «Авги», полная серия которого хранится только в этой библиотеке.

«Вестник Кипра» поговорил с директором библиотеки, Джорджией Контолеми.

джорджия контолеми— Джорджия, сколько у вас посетителей в год?
— В среднем, нашу библиотеку посещают 175 человек день, следовательно, в год — около 43 000, но мы хотим увеличить эту цифру.

— Чем можно занять в библиотеке детей?
— Мы устраиваем встречи книжных клубов, а также образовательные программы для школьников. Мы всегда рады новым мероприятиям и уверены, что дети очень многое почерпнут из своего первого библиотечного опыта.

— Есть ли в вашей коллекции книги на русском языке? И можно ли передавать книги в библиотеку?
— На данный момент у нас нет книг на русском, но в ближайшем будущем мы планируем сделать такую подборку. Мы примем в дар любую книгу, которую вы принесёте, но это не должна быть энциклопедия или школьные учебники.

Ларнака

Муниципальная библиотека находится в нынешнем здании с 60-х годов XX века. Коллекция насчитывает около 42 000 книг. После реставрации в здании появился уютный детский уголок, оборудованный всем необходимым для проведения детских встреч и чтений, а на втором этаже — удобное пространство для коворкинга. Количество посетителей значительно выросло после того, как в городе открыли свои представительства Университет Кипра, колледжи и частные британские школы.

Пафос

Муниципальная библиотека Пафоса открылась в 1946 году. Сегодня здание в неоклассическом стиле, оборудованное всем необходимым для посетителей разных возрастов, работает всего лишь до 15 часов по будним дням. Многие жители просят муниципалитет увеличить время работы библиотеки, так как попросту не успевают в рабочие часы.

У местных властей есть план по привлечению большего количества посетителей. Его назвали «Друзья Муниципальной библиотеки Пафоса». Волонтёры рассказывают о новом пространстве жителям города, проводят всевозможные акции, направленные на знакомство с работой библиотеки, её фондом и вкладом в культурную жизнь города.

Библиотеки Кипра будут рады принять в дар книги из частных собраний, а также уникальные издания периодики. Все они должны быть в хорошем состоянии и не принадлежать каким-либо другим библиотекам. Если в коллекции данной библиотеки подобная книга уже есть, её могут передать в другое книжное собрание Кипра.

    1            Application of terms

    1.1        These Terms apply to your use of the Website. By accessing and using the Website:

    3            Definitions

    In these Terms:

    Loss includes loss of profits, savings, revenue or data, and any other claim, damage, loss, liability and cost, including legal costs on a solicitor and own client basis

    personal information means information about an identifiable, living person

    Terms means these terms and conditions titled Terms and conditions of use

    Underlying System means any network, system, software, data or material that underlies or is connected to the Website

    You means you or, if clause 1.1b applies, both you and the other person on whose behalf you are acting.

     

    4            Your obligations

    4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

    information remains true, current and complete.

    4.2        You must:

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    b unless with our agreement, access the Website via standard web browsers only and not by any other method. Other methods include scraping, deep-linking, harvesting, data mining, use of a robot or spider, automation, or any similar data gathering, extraction or monitoring method.

    4.3 You indemnify us against all Loss we suffer or incur as a direct or indirect result of your failure to comply with these Terms.
     

    5            Intellectual property

    We (and our licensors) own all proprietary and intellectual property rights in the Website (including all information, data, text, graphics, artwork, photographs, logos, icons, sound recordings, videos and look and feel), and the Underlying Systems.

    8.1        You are not required to provide personal information to us, although in some cases if you choose not to do so then we will be unable to make certain sections of the Website available to you. For example, we may need to have your contact information in order to provide you with updates from our Website.

    and services to you, credit checks (if necessary), and research and development.

    10.2      These Terms, and any dispute relating to these Terms or the Website, are governed by and must be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the

    Republic of Cyprus.

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    Website.

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
