Пять церквей одной деревни

За почти двухтысячелетнюю историю христианства на Кипре было построено более тысячи православных храмов и церквей. Перефразируя древнюю поговорку, об острове можно с уверенностью сказать, что здесь любая дорога приведет в храм. Сегодня речь пойдет о пяти действующих церквях древнейшего кипрского селения Афиену.

Построенные в разные времена и периоды жизни острова, каждый из православных храмов деревни Афиену с течением времени занял особую роль в жизни христианской общины: в одной церкви крестят детей, в другой венчают, в третьей отпевают умерших.

Наиболее известными на Кипре из церквей Афиену являются церковь Богородицы Хрисолеусы, где хранятся башмачки святого Спиридона, и единственная на всем острове церковь Святого Фоки.

Церковь Богородицы XVIII века

Действующая миниатюрная церковь Богородицы в ее сегодняшнем виде была построена в 1711 году. Но храм существовал здесь задолго до этого. Свидетельством тому служат несколько уровней церкви, которые бережно сохранены под прозрачными напольными покрытиями.

На стенах древнего храма Богородицы сохранились фрагменты прекрасных фресок. Обычно ежедневная вечерняя служба проводится именно здесь. В этой церкви, согласно сложившейся традиции, проводят таинство крещения. На протяжении нескольких столетий в древнюю церковь Богородицы жители Афиену приходили на исповедь.

2 Bogorodica

Храм Георгия Победоносца

Церковь Святого Георгия была возведена в период между1870 и 1880 годами. Она находится на центральной площади Афиену, где всегда многолюдно: здесь проходит одна из центральных дорог деревни; здесь же находятся две самые большие кофейни, в которых с утра до вечера полно посетителей – за игрой в нарды и беседами здесь коротают дни старожилы Афиену. Один из супермаркетов деревни также расположен на площади.

В церкви Святого Георгия обычно отпевают покойных, и именно сюда чаще всего приходят местные жители для поминовения усопших.

Храм Епифания

Церковь Святого Епифания находится на окраине деревни. В этом уединенном месте слышны только шорох листвы и пение птиц. Здесь всегда теплятся лампады. К слову, святого Епифания хорошо знают и любят на острове – он считается отцом-основателем христианской Церкви Кипра.

Епифаний Кипрский (греч. Ἐπιφάνειος Κύπρου) – один из ранних Отцов Церкви, воззрения которого слагались под влиянием аскетов Египта и Палестины, во время борьбы Церкви с арианством, в которой и сам Епифаний принимал участие.

Переселившись на Кипр, в 367 году Епифаний был избран епископом Саламина и управлял кипрской Церковью 36 лет, славясь благочестием и благотворительностью. Епифаний был причислен к лику христианских святых, память его празднуется 12 (25) мая.

Единственная церковь Фоки на Кипре

Каждый год 5 октября в Афиену съезжаются верующие со всего острова. В этот день христианская церковь празднует память святого Фоки. На Кипре всего одна церковь, построенная в честь этого христианского мученика, и находится она именно здесь, в Афиену.

Фока (IV век) не был богатым человеком, но всегда находил возможность кормить нищих и принимать странников. Примером своей богоугодной жизни он так благотворно действовал на людей, что даже язычники уважали его. В те времена гонения на христиан еще продолжались, и однажды правитель области послал своих воинов за Фокой. Когда воины пришли в его дом, Фока, не называя своего имени, принял посланцев радушно, угостил и предложил ночлег. Ночью он пошел в свой сад, приготовил себе гроб и место для погребения, а также сделал распоряжение, чтобы все его имущество после смерти было роздано бедным. Только утром Фока сказал гостям, что он и есть тот, кого они ищут. Гости смутились и решили сказать правителю, что не нашли Фоку, но он сам решительно воспротивился этому. «Ничем так отрадно не отплатите вы мне за гостеприимство, как если освободите от плотских уз и препроводите к желанному Христу», – возразил он своим гостям и спокойно преклонил под меч голову. Воины похоронили Фоку в им самим приготовленной могиле в саду. Мученическая кончина святого Фоки описана древним писателем Астерием Амастийским.

Церковь Святого Фоки была построена в 1711 году – эта дата указана в верхней части северных ворот храма.

Церковь Богородицы Хрисолеусы

Это самая большая и современная церковь Афиену. Она была освящена в 1959 году. Наверное, это единственная церковь на острове с иконостасом из белоснежного мрамора!
В церкви Богородицы Хрисолеусы (Panagia Chrysоleousa) проводится ежедневная утренняя служба и венчания, и именно здесь собираются жители Афиену во время больших христианских праздников. В церкви Богородицы Хрисолеусы хранятся башмачки Чудотворца земли кипрской – святого Спиридона.

    1            Application of terms

    Terms means these terms and conditions titled Terms and conditions of use

    Underlying System means any network, system, software, data or material that underlies or is connected to the Website

    You means you or, if clause 1.1b applies, both you and the other person on whose behalf you are acting.

     

    4            Your obligations

    4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

    information remains true, current and complete.

    4.2        You must:

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    b unless with our agreement, access the Website via standard web browsers only and not by any other method. Other methods include scraping, deep-linking, harvesting, data mining, use of a robot or spider, automation, or any similar data gathering, extraction or monitoring method.

    4.3 You indemnify us against all Loss we suffer or incur as a direct or indirect result of your failure to comply with these Terms.

    10.2      These Terms, and any dispute relating to these Terms or the Website, are governed by and must be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the

    Republic of Cyprus.

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    Website.

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
