Монастырь Панагии Хрисороятиссы стоит недалеко от деревни Пано Панагия, примерно в 35 км к северо-востоку от Пафоса. Это действующий мужской монастырь, основанный в XII веке и хранящий одну из самых почитаемых святынь западного Кипра — икону, которую здесь называют Богородицей Золотого Граната.

Икона, приплывшая по морю

По преданию, монастырь основал в 1152 году монах Игнатий. Во время странствия ему было видение Пресвятой Богородицы, указавшей, где искать её икону. Вскоре монах действительно обнаружил образ на берегу моря, в небольшой пещере. Предание говорит, что некая благочестивая женщина, жившая в Исаврии во времена иконоборчества, спасая икону Божией Матери от уничтожения, пустила ее по волнам, а они принесли ее на Кипр. Здесь ее подобрал местный рыбак и спрятал в пещере, где спустя много лет ее и нашел Игнатий. Монах взял образ и перенёс его на гору, где впоследствии возник монастырь.

Эта икона носит своё собственное имя: Богородица Золотого Граната или Хрисороятисса («хрисо́с» – золотой, «ро́ди» – гранат). Ещё в дохристианские времена гранат в этих краях был символом плодородия и удачи. С приходом христианства образ граната сохранил символическое значение, но уже как оберег и талисман, причём не только в любовных делах, но и в деловых начинаниях. Есть и другая версия происхождения эпитета иконы: от сочетания прилагательного «хрисо́» с названием горы, на которой стоит монастырь — Ройя.

Храм и его сокровища

Главный храм, который сохранился до наших дней, был построен в 1770 году и представляет собой прекрасный образец традиционной кипрской церковной архитектуры. Чудотворная икона, которую, согласно церковному преданию, написал святой апостол и евангелист Лука, находится в богато украшенном иконостасе, а её серебряный оклад датируется 1762 годом.

Иконостас и большинство храмовых икон относятся к XVIII веку. В монастыре также хранится богатая коллекция церковной утвари, рукописей, старопечатных книг и других памятников православного искусства.
Родина первого президента Кипра

Соседняя деревня Панагия — не просто живописная остановка по дороге. Это родина архиепископа Макариоса III, первого президента независимого Кипра. Здесь сохранился его родной дом, а неподалёку работает музей Фонда культуры имени архиепископа Макариоса III.

10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not
