Монастырь Панагии Троодитиссы стоит среди живописных склонов гор Троодос, между деревнями Платрес и Продромос, на высоте около 1370 метров над уровнем моря. Это один из самых древних монастырей региона. Он знаменит своей реликвией, к которой едут женщины со всего мира в надежде на рождение ребёнка – поясом Богородицы.

Отшельник, умерший в пещере

По преданию, монастырь появился здесь вскоре после периода иконоборчества (VIII–IX века). Монах, бежавший из Греции, тайно привёз на Кипр икону Пресвятой Богородицы и поселился в одной из горных пещер Троодоса. Всю оставшуюся жизнь он прожил здесь затворником, питаясь лесными ягодами и травами. Много лет спустя тело монаха нашли в пещере: он выглядел так, будто просто уснул.

Ещё несколько лет икона оставалась в пещере, рядом с отшельником. Но однажды два пастуха из ближайшей деревни заметили над горами странный свет, то вспыхивающий, то угасающий, будто кто-то пытался привлечь внимание. Сначала решили, что где-то пожар, но, приглядевшись, поняли: дело не в огне. Собрав жителей деревни во главе со священником, пастухи отправились на поиски, и таинственный свет всю ночь указывал им путь в тёмных горах, пока не привёл к иконе.

Чудо с кувшином воды

Найдя икону, решили строить на этом месте монастырь. Но гора оказалась слишком крутой, а источника воды поблизости не было: её приходилось возить из горной реки. Строительство то и дело откладывалось, пока однажды утром на западном склоне, в нескольких метрах от входа в пещеру, не нашли кувшин, полный свежей родниковой воды – ангел указал на скрытый источник. После этого работы наконец начались, и через несколько лет у иконы Богородицы Троодитиссы появился новый дом.

Точная дата основания монастыря неизвестна: по легенде, оно связано с периодом иконоборчества (VIII–IX века), а самое раннее письменное упоминание о монастыре в кипрских летописях относится лишь к XIV веку. Некоторые источники называют 990 год как условную дату первого документального следа. Само название иконы объясняется просто: Богородица Троодитисса, «живущая в горах Троодоса». Скит отшельника, где всё начиналось, сохранился до наших дней: к пещере можно подняться по горной тропе, которая начинается примерно в километре от монастыря.
Пояс, который дарит надежду

Самая известная реликвия монастыря – не икона, а пояс, хранящийся в алтарной части храма. Это кожаный пояс, украшенный серебряными позолоченными пластинами с изображением золотого граната, древнего символа плодородия. Несколько веков назад его подарила монахам местная жительница: будучи бесплодной, много лет она приходила к иконе Богородицы Троодитиссы с молитвой о ребёнке. Когда молитва была услышана, женщина в благодарность сшила своими руками пояс, который носила всю беременность, а после родов оставила его в монастыре.

Чудотворный пояс Богородицы

С тех пор к поясу приезжают в основном женщины. Паломницы прибывают рано утром и обращаются к настоятелю. Если просящая состоит в церковном браке, то настоятель с молитвой надевает на нее пояс, после чего она молится у чудотворной иконы. Со всех концов света в монастырь приходят письма с фотографиями детей, рождение которых родители связывают именно с этой реликвией.
Другие иконы храма

Справа от иконостаса хранится ещё один почитаемый образ, написанный в XVIII веке иконописцем Иоаннисом Корнаро: Богородица на троне в окружении ангелов, с Младенцем Христом, изображённым фронтально. Этот тип икон известен как Оранта. Икона покрыта серебряным окладом с небольшой дверцей, через которую к ней можно приложиться.

Слева, у входа в церковь, находится икона святого Стилианоса, покровителя и защитника детей: святой держит на руках ребёнка и свиток с напоминанием, что дети – это дар от Бога.

История монастыря знала и потрясения: в 1585 году храм сожгли турки, а в 1842 году случился ещё один пожар, на этот раз по случайности, из-за оставленной зажжённой свечи.
Жизнь в труде и молитве

Сегодня в монастыре живут около десяти монахов, которые своими руками превратили крутые горные склоны в настоящий оазис: разбили огород с кабачками, капустой и морковью, посадили яблони, черешню и грушу, а у входа в монастырь растут ореховые деревья. Братия сама реставрирует старинный иконостас, чинит крышу, ухаживает за постройками и цветниками.

При этом монастырь принципиально закрыт для туристического потока: на воротах висит табличка на английском, «We are not in a position to accept tourists» («Мы не в состоянии принимать туристов»). Это не грубость, а просьба монахов не нарушать покой обители обычным любопытством: сюда приезжают как в место паломничества, а не как на экскурсию.
Когда ехать

Главный престольный праздник монастыря – 15 августа, Успение Пресвятой Богородицы. В этот день праздничная служба начинается задолго до рассвета, а прихожан съезжается столько, что многие молятся прямо во дворе, слушая проповедь из громкоговорителя. У входа в монастырь в этот день проводится ярмарка, где угощают праздничной кутьёй и монастырским хлебом.

4            Your obligations

4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
