50 фактов о жизни на Кипре

ГЕОРГАФИЯ.
1. Кипр — третий по величине остров в Средиземном море.
2. Существует две версии происхождения названия острова: от названия металла «медь» (cuprum), который здесь добывали с древних времен, и от слова «кипарис» — дерева, в изобилии растущего на острове.
3. Наша Республика – одна из самых малонаселенных стран ЕС. Меньше населения только в Люксембурге и на Мальте.
4. Удивительно, но Кипр имеет сухопутную границу с Великобританией. 2% территории острова граничит с ее суверенной территорией, на которой расположены военные базы.
5. С северо-западного берега Кипра видно Турцию.
6. Высочайшей точкой острова является гора Олимп – 1 952 м. На самом верху стоит военная база.
7. На Кипре находится самая южная точка Евросоюза. Географически же Кипр относится к Азии.

РАЗДЕЛЕННАЯ ТЕРРИТОРИЯ.
8. Территории северной части Кипра, включая часть столицы Кипра, находятся под оккупацией Турции, так называемая Турецкая республика северного Кипра (ТРСК). Но она не признана ни одной страной мира, кроме Турции.
9. Столица Кипра Никосия – последняя в мире столица, разделенная между двумя странами.
10. Въезд на оккупированные территории со стороны Республики Кипр не требует предварительных виз, и при пересечении границы в паспорт не ставится никаких отметок – виза выдается в электронном виде, и ваше пребывание регистрируется лишь в компьютере. А с северной в южную — невозможен. То есть въехав на остров через северную часть вы как бы попадаете в страну незаконно (минуя пограничные службы Республики Кипр).

ДОРОГИ. ТРАНСПОРТ.
11. На Кипре левостороннее движение, оставшееся со времен, когда Кипр был британской колонией.
12. Если вы увидите автомобиль с красными номерами – значит он взят в аренду.
13. Поворотниками пользуются единицы, но зато пешеходов пропускают не только на переходах.
14. Поднятая рука с открытой ладонью является неформальным автомобильным приоритетом. С поднятой рукой можно смело переходить улицу, или вклиниваться в ряд, или разворачиваться через две полосы.
15. Допустимое содержание алкоголя в организме водителя равно 0,28 промилле.
16. Общественный транспорт на Кипре не развит, так что мы уверенно входим в четверку стран с высоким количеством автомобилей на душу населения. На каждую тысячу жителей (включая младенцев) — 750 автомобилей. То есть практически каждый совершеннолетний имеет свой автомобиль.
17. Движение на острове — левостороннее. При этом действует правило «помехи справа», как при правостороннем движении.
18. Платные дороги отсутствуют.
19. На Кипре очень хорошо развита сеть дорог. Скоростные магистрали связывают все, что можно связать между собой. Кипрские дороги считаются одними из лучших в Европе.
20. Велосипедные дорожки также размечены для левостороннего движения.

РЕЛИГИЯ. ЦЕРКОВЬ.
21. Большинство национальных праздников — религиозные.
22. Только на Кипре празднуется Катаклизмос, или День Всемирного Потопа.
23. Брак в церкви приравнивается к официальному. На свадьбу приглашаются все знакомые и родственники. Чем больше народу придет, тем престижнее считается свадьба.
24. Крещение детей — второй по величине семейный праздник после свадьбы и празднуется с таким же размахом и десятками, сотнями, а то и тысячами гостей.
25. Кипр был первым местом, которое посетили апостолы Павел и Варнава во время первой христианской миссии. Остров первым попал под управление Христианской церкви.
26. Девять церквей и один монастырь внесены в список Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО. Также в этот список входит древний город Пафос и поселение времен неолита – Хирокития.
27. Самый старый монастырь Кипра основан в III веке.
28. В монастыре Киккос хранятся мощи Георгия Победоносца, покровителя Москвы.
29. В мужском монастыре Ставровуни хранится гвоздь из креста, на котором распяли Христа. Еще одна частица хранится в церкви Св. Креста в д. Лефкара.

МИФОЛОГИЯ.
30. Киприоты считают, что именно их гора Олимп в отличие от греческой материковой является настоящей горой богов.
31. Кипр – остров, который Марк Антоний подарил Клеопатре.
32. На Кипре находится то место, где по преданию родилась богиня красоты — Афродита. А также место, где она получила вечную молодость, умывшись водами источника.

ЕДА.
33. На Кипре нет круглосуточных супермаркетов. Зато есть пекарни, которые работают в государственные праздники, а также ночью и в выходные дни. В них кроме хлебо-булочных изделий можно купить соки, молоко, масло, сыр и т. д.
34. Национальный напиток — кофе «по-кипрски». Несмотря на сходство, не вздумайте назвать его кофе «по-турецки». А также фраппе — растворимый кофе, взбитый в пену с сахаром и залитый водой или молоком со льдом.
35. Национальная еда — сувла, большие куски мяса, обычно свинины, жаренные на шампурах. Или сувлаки — уменьшенная версия сувлы на деревянных шпажках.
36. Национальный алкогольный напиток — зивания — виноградная водка. Но киприоты практически не употребляют алкогольные напитки.
37. Также особой гордостью киприотов является тугоплавкий сыр халуми, который обычно готовят на гриле. И то, что в России называют чурчхела (по-гречески «шужуко») — орехи, нанизанные на длинные нити и покрытые толстым слоем застывшего виноградного сиропа.
38. Именно остров Кипр 6 000 лет назад стал первым местом в Средиземноморье, где начали производить вино. Это подтверждено итальянскими археологами.
39. Филлоксера – жучок, который успешно поедает виноградники во всем мире, и против которого нет средства борьбы, обошел Кипр стороной. Поэтому на Кипре в любой деревне вы сможете увидеть живые лозы возрастом более 100 лет, в также на острове зафиксирован рекорд для книги Гиннеса: самая старая лоза, возрастом около 150 лет.

НАЦИОНАЛЬНЫЕ ОСОБЕННОСТИ.
40. «СигА-сигА» — выражение, примерно соответствующее русской пословице «работа не волк — в лес не убежит» или «не спеши — успеешь». Это выражение является девизом и жизненным кредо для многих, а также смешной шуткой.
41. Национальный вид спорта — футбол. Киприоты активные болельщики, “ставильщики” ставок, да и мяч попинать не дураки.
42. Несмотря то, что большая часть киприотов курит, продолжительность жизни на Кипре высокая.
43. Греческий язык на Кипре немного отличается от классического новогреческого языка, и скорее является кипрским диалектом.
44. Фильмы в кинотеатрах показывают на языке оригинала с греческими субтитрами.
45. На Кипре есть кофейни только для мужчин. Видимо сказывается мусульманская традиция.
46. Все пляжи на Кипре муниципальные — это означает, что вход на любой из них, даже если он расположен напротив самого роскошного отеля, свободен для всех желающих.
47. Вместо знакомого нам с детства Деда Мороза, киприоты встречают Святого Василиса.
48. Многие дома вместо номеров на фасаде носят гордые имена собственные, например, Melanie House.
49. Обычно в квартирах очень тесные санузлы без розеток и отсутствует прихожая.
50. Когда в горах выпадает снег — киприоты по традиции лепят снеговиков и ставят их на капот своих автомобилей. Или просто накидывают снег на крышу, чтобы, спустившись с гор, всем показать, что они видели снег.

    1            Application of terms

    1.1        These Terms apply to your use of the Website. By accessing and using the Website:

    Loss includes loss of profits, savings, revenue or data, and any other claim, damage, loss, liability and cost, including legal costs on a solicitor and own client basis

    Terms means these terms and conditions titled Terms and conditions of use

    Underlying System means any network, system, software, data or material that underlies or is connected to the Website

    You means you or, if clause 1.1b applies, both you and the other person on whose behalf you are acting.

     

    4            Your obligations

    4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

    information remains true, current and complete.

    4.2        You must:

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    b unless with our agreement, access the Website via standard web browsers only and not by any other method. Other methods include scraping, deep-linking, harvesting, data mining, use of a robot or spider, automation, or any similar data gathering, extraction or monitoring method.

    Republic of Cyprus.

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
