4 самых необычных православных храма Лимассола

Кошачий, затопленный, самый колоритный и, конечно же, русский — я выбрал всего четыре православных храма Лимассола, зато самых удивительных. А вы бывали в них?

В прошлый раз я писал о самых необычных православных храмах Ларнаки, в этот раз мы остановимся на Лимассоле и увидим примечательные религиозные сооружения в этом районе. 

Кошачий монастырь Святого Николая (Monastery of Saint Nicholas of the Cats)

Храм Святого Николая – одна из самых ранних сохранившихся христианских святынь на острове. Монастырь находится на британской территории Акротири недалеко от Кошачьего мыса.

Согласно местной легенде, церковь была заложена императрицей Еленой, когда она путешествовала по Святой земле. Спустя тысячу лет храм перестроили в мужской монастырь, ещё через двести лет, с приходом турок, забросили. А уже в наше время, в конце 80-х годов прошлого века, верующие восстановили святыню в виде женского монастыря.

По общепринятой традиции считается, что котов завезла императрица Елена, чтобы они охотились на змей. Поговаривают, что царица привезла ни много ни мало тысячу котов и кошек то ли из Египта, то ли из Константинополя.

Впрочем, тот факт, что Елена основала монастырь, удивительным не выглядит. А вот история про котов кажется сильно преувеличенной. По крайней мере, об этом свидетельствует Йоргос Сеферис, знаменитый греческий дипломат и писатель.

По информации Сефериса, котов расплодили здесь уже в XX веке для борьбы со змеями. Сам Сеферис посвятил своё стихотворение святыне:

“…τοὺς ἔσωσαν οἱ γάτες ποὺ ἀναθρέφαν.

Τὴν κάθε αὐγὴ χτυποῦσε μία καμπάνα

καὶ ξεκινοῦσαν τσοῦρμο γιὰ τὴ μάχη…”

“…вскормленные коты спасли [монахов].

И каждый день под утро бил колокол

И [кошачий] батальон шёл в атаку.”

Храм располагается недалеко от британского военного аэропорта.

Собор Панагия Католики

Православный собор в самом центре Лимассола. Построен совсем недавно – в 2012 году. Для нас главной его особенностью является то, что здесь проводятся службы на церковнославянском языке.

В путеводителях указывается, что храм был сооружён «в традициях русской архитектуры XVII века» или «русского зодчества XVIII века»… Видимо, под этим стоит подразумевать внутреннее убранство, которое, действительно, опирается на русский стиль: яркие фрески, изображающие святого Николая, младенца Христа с Божьей Матерью и различные ветхозаветные мотивы.

А вот само здание уж никак не соответствует зодчеству России XVII или XVIII века. Напротив, внешне собор не выделяется среди других современных храмов Кипра. Как и другие русские святыни острова, он относится к Кипрской православной церкви.

В соборе проводятся службы в субботу и воскресенье. Храм расположен на Ellados street.

 

Затонувшая церковь Святого Николая (Church of Saint Nicholas)

Следующая наша святыня — небольшая церковь Святого Николая. Раньше – ничем не примечательная деревенская обитель. Храм располагался в деревушке Аласса на берегу реки Курис.

Однако в 1980 году селение и церковь изменились до неузнаваемости. Строители завершили возведение огромной дамбы вниз по течению реки и перекрыли Курис.

Вода поднялась и образовала огромное водохранилище, которое затопило деревню и частично храм. В зимнее и весеннее время вода доходит до святилища и иногда затапливает его до крыши. Летом руины храма можно осмотреть ближе, гуляя по тому, что от него осталось. 

К слову, власти, разумеется, знали о том, что водохранилище затопит деревню, и заблаговременно переселили жителей. А чуть дальше от реки построили новую церковь Святого Николая.

От центра Лимассола на транспорте сюда можно добраться всего за 20-30 минут.

 

Часовня Всех Святых (Chapel of All Saints)

В отличие от предыдущих храмов, часовня Всех Святых находится на частной территории —  у отеля Columbia Beach Resort в Писсури, к западу от Лимассола.

Наверно, это самая яркая и колоритная церковь острова. Её расписал знаменитый английский архитектор и художник Джон Корбидж в 2002 году. Это стало его последней работой.

Корбидж смог удачно совместить византийский стиль с современными течениями в искусстве. Основным цветом росписи он выбрал синий – цвет неба и моря, который греки-византийцы ассоциировали с божественной силой.

«O Lord how much blue you use so we cannot see you» – написано на табличке в память о Корбидже. Это перевод знаменитой цитаты из поэмы Одиссеаса Элитиса, нобелевского лауреата по литературе: «Θεέ μου τι μπλε ξοδεύεις για να μη σε βλέπουμε». – «Боже, сколько ты использовал синего цвета, что мы не можем тебя разглядеть».

    1            Application of terms

    You means you or, if clause 1.1b applies, both you and the other person on whose behalf you are acting.

     

    4            Your obligations

    4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

    information remains true, current and complete.

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    Republic of Cyprus.

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    Website.

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
