Сезон черепах: на побережье Кипра появляются на свет редкие рептилии

Кипр — одно из важнейших мест в Средиземноморье для гнездования редких морских черепах, которые из года в год выбирают для кладки яиц песчаные пляжи острова. Сейчас на острове разгар сезона, когда из отложенных летом кладок начинают появляться детёныши. Инкубация яиц занимает от 45 до 60 дней в зависимости от температуры песка, поэтому массовый выход из гнёзд, начавшийся ещё в конце июля, продлится до сентября.

На Кипре размножаются два вида морских черепах — зеленая (Chelonia mydas) и головастая, или логгерхед (Caretta caretta). Оба вида занесены в Красный список Международного союза охраны природы, а на острове находятся под защитой закона с 1971 года. Присутствие этих рептилий на местном побережье специалисты считают показателем хорошего экологического состояния прибрежных вод.

Выживают из новорожденных черепах единицы. По оценкам специалистов, до взрослого возраста доживает лишь один-два малыша из тысячи вылупившихся: на пути к морю их поджидают лисы, крабы и птицы, а в море — хищные рыбы и рыболовные сети. Сам процесс происходит ночью: черепашата выбираются из песка синхронно (движение одного запускает цепную реакцию у остальных) и направляются к самой яркой точке горизонта — в естественных условиях это отражение луны на воде. Именно поэтому искусственное освещение — фонари, вспышки, гирлянды отелей — одна из главных угроз: оно сбивает их с курса, и вместо моря они ползут в сторону суши.

Конфликт вокруг пляжа Лара

Одно из важнейших мест гнездования на острове и в восточном Средиземноморье – прибрежная зона Лара-Токсефтра, охраняемая законом и входящая в сеть Natura 2000. С начала лета здесь традиционно действует запрет: нельзя ставить зонты, шезлонги и палатки, а также оставаться на ночь. До середины августа сезон шёл в обычном режиме, но 19 августа поступили сообщения, что отдыхающие всё же установили зонты и палатки. После этого союз экологов Opok выступил с резким заявлением, назвав произошедшее несовместимым со статусом строго охраняемой территории, и потребовал усилить контроль.

Спор обострился еще больше 24 августа, когда заместитель мэра Инии Янгос Цивикос вновь предложил организовать на восточной части Лары пляж с шезлонгами, сославшись на многовековое соседство человека и природы в Акамасе. Партия защиты животных отвергла эту идею, заявив, что нынешний туристический поток несопоставим с историческим присутствием людей в этом районе.

Похожее предложение уже отклоняли в 2023 году: тогда Департамент рыболовства признал шезлонги на Ларе несовместимыми с охранным статусом территории.

 

Новое в этом сезоне: спутниковое наблюдение

В июле 2026 года Средиземноморское общество по исследованию и охране черепах (MedTRACS) впервые в истории острова установило спутниковые передатчики на самок, откладывавших яйца на пляже Лара. В результате ученые получили карту маршрута животных практически в режиме реального времени. Такие данные позволяют узнать где черепахи проводят большую часть жизни после откладывания яиц, какими путями они мигрируют, какие районы моря особенно важны для кормления, с какими угрозами сталкиваются во время путешествий. Черепах назвали Андреа — в честь основателя кипрской программы по сохранению морских черепах Андреаса Димитропулоса — и Лара, в честь самого залива. Следить за их перемещением по Средиземному морю теперь может любой желающий через открытые онлайн-карты. 

 

Климат меняет условия размножения

В июне 2026 года Университет Кипра, отмечая Всемирный день морской черепахи, заявил, что меры по защите этого вида по сути совпадают с мерами против изменения климата, указав на риски, которые несут для кладок рост температуры и подъём уровня моря. Университетский океанографический центр участвует в средиземноморском проекте Life Adapts, в рамках которого на контролируемых пляжах Кипра уже выявлено и взято под охрану более 100 гнёзд, а учёные собирают данные о температуре грунта и картируют пляжи по уязвимости к подъему уровня моря.

Как вести себя, если вы встретили детенышей черепах

Не трогайте их, не приближайтесь ближе нескольких метров и не подсвечивайте им дорогу фонариками или вспышками — свет сбивает черепашат с курса. Наблюдать за выходом из гнезда к морю лучше на расстоянии, дав малышам самостоятельно найти дорогу. На охраняемых пляжах, включая Лара, Токсефтра и территории у Полис-Гиалии, стоит передвигаться только по размеченным тропам, чтобы не повредить скрытые в песке кладки. За нарушение правил защиты черепах на Кипре предусмотрены штрафы вплоть до нескольких тысяч евро.

required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not
