Киприоты по всему миру: как живет кипрская диаспора

За время политических потрясений ХХ века множество киприотов покинуло родной остров, чтобы найти новый дом в чужих краях. Однако связь с родиной для многих не иссякла и после эмиграции. Кипрская диаспора, в которую входят киприоты, постоянно проживающие в более чем 115 странах мира, остается важным национальным активом.

Кипрские землячества выступают в качестве «послов» острова за рубежом и вносят свой вклад в экономическую и культурную жизнь страны. Об истории кипрской диаспоры рассказывает Cyprus Mail.

Многие киприоты покидали родину временно, ради более высоких заработков и того, чтобы иметь возможность содержать свои семьи. Их эмоциональная привязанность к Кипру оставалась непоколебимой: они сохраняли свою культуру, язык, религию и традиции. Шло время, и по мере того, как сплоченная и растущая кипрская община успешно интегрировалась в новое для них общество и начинала процветать, эмигранты первого поколения принимали решение остаться в выбранной ими стране, так как привыкали к новым условиям, а сплоченное сообщество соотечественников всегда было готово оказать им поддержку. Киприотам-эмигрантам не требовалось отказываться от языка, веры и культуры, и это сильно облегчало их жизнь на чужбине.

Великобритания

Первая волна кипрской эмиграции в Великобританию прошла в 1920-1930-х годах, однако она была относительно небольшой по сравнению с числом киприотов, прибывших туда после Второй мировой войны в конце 1940-х и на протяжении 1950-х годов. «Для этих ранних мигрантов было обычным делом работать на текстильных фабриках, в сфере общественного питания и заниматься ручным трудом где-нибудь в Вест-Энде или Камдене», — рассказывает Христос Караолис, президент Национальной федерации киприотов Великобритании ― организации, основанной вскоре после турецкого вторжения 1974 года для координации деятельности соотечественников. «На протяжении многих лет мы успешно держали кипрский вопрос в центре политических дискуссий, активно взаимодействуя с правительством Великобритании, развивая тесные связи со средствами массовой информации, организациями национальных меньшинств и другими учреждениями», ― добавляет Караолис.

Сегодня в Великобритании проживает около 300 000 киприотов, интегрированных в британское общество в качестве успешных предпринимателей и профессионалов, оказывающих значительное влияние на самые разные сферы жизни. Лондонское грекоязычное радио и телевидение стали важной частью жизни британских киприотов. «Несмотря на развитие социальных сетей, радио и телевидение до сих пор остаются неотъемлемой частью британского вещательного ландшафта и по-прежнему очень популярны, ― отмечает Такис Феллас, управляющий директор и СЕО Hellenic TV. ― Как радио, так и телевидение гарантируют сохранность кипрской культуры и традиций и передачу их молодым поколениям».

США

Основанная в 1975 году, Кипрская ассоциация Америки продолжает содействовать «борьбе кипрского народа за идеалы свободы и справедливости». Сегодня ассоциацию возглавляет предприниматель греко-кипрского происхождения Филип Кристофер. Основная миссия организации состоит в том, чтобы обучать американских греков-киприотов наследию и традициям Кипра. «Кипрская ассоциация установила прекрасные отношения между своими отделениями, продвигая и представляя интересы киприотов и координируя социальные, образовательные, благотворительные и культурные мероприятия, ― рассказывает Филип Кристофер. ― Организация также поддерживает Православную церковь в ее действиях по формированию греко-американской идентичности и сохранению нашей веры в Соединенных Штатах».

ЮАР

Руководствуясь теми же целями, что и ее британские и американские коллеги, Греческая федерация Южной Африки стремится поддерживать грекоязычные общины и организации. В 1970-х годах община греков и греков-киприотов в Африке насчитывала 120 000 человек, однако перемены, последовавшие за отменой политики апартеида, вынудили почти половину грекоязычных жителей покинуть страну. «Несмотря на сокращение численности, киприоты остаются значительной частью южноафриканского сообщества, внося свой вклад в экономическое и социальное развитие государства, ― отмечает Джон Спиридис, президент Греческой федерации Южной Африки. ― Большинство киприотов второго и третьего поколения окончили университеты и занимают ключевые должности в широком спектре востребованных отраслей промышленности». Австралия

В Австралии греко-кипрская община имеет представительства во всех столицах штатов и остается вторым по величине кипрским сообществом за пределами Кипра. Активная, успешная и энергичная кипрская община Нового Южного Уэльса продолжает вносить свой вклад в коммерческую, политическую и культурную жизнь Австралии. «Будущее кипрско-австралийской общины сейчас более определенно, чем когда-либо», ― отмечает Спирос Константину, президент организации.

За последние два десятилетия многие представители диаспоры второго и третьего поколений переехали на Кипр, исполнив мечты своих предков о возвращении домой. Хотя молодое поколение, возможно, незнакомо с институтами и социальными нормами современного Кипра, переезду на родной остров и интеграции в кипрское общество часто сопутствуют радость и ностальгическое чувство дома.

Те, кто остается за границей, обычно никогда не теряют связи с родиной и находятся в тесном контакте со своей родней на острове. Этих неформальных «послов» Кипра следует рассматривать как скрытый актив, во-первых, благодаря их культурному, политическому и социальному вкладу, а во-вторых, благодаря их инвестициям в кипрскую экономику.

    1            Application of terms

    Terms means these terms and conditions titled Terms and conditions of use

    Underlying System means any network, system, software, data or material that underlies or is connected to the Website

    You means you or, if clause 1.1b applies, both you and the other person on whose behalf you are acting.

     

    4            Your obligations

    4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

    information remains true, current and complete.

    4.2        You must:

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    b unless with our agreement, access the Website via standard web browsers only and not by any other method. Other methods include scraping, deep-linking, harvesting, data mining, use of a robot or spider, automation, or any similar data gathering, extraction or monitoring method.

    4.3 You indemnify us against all Loss we suffer or incur as a direct or indirect result of your failure to comply with these Terms.

    10.2      These Terms, and any dispute relating to these Terms or the Website, are governed by and must be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the

    Republic of Cyprus.

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    Website.

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
