10 необычных мест для короткого путешествия по острову

Жителей острова, увлекающихся однодневными вылазками на природу или посещением достопримечательностей, сложно чем-то удивить. Но мы попробуем. «Вестник Кипра» собрал вместе 10 необычных мест.

Стеклянная скульптура в центре Никосии 
Скульптура «Поэт» у ворот Фамагусты в историческом центре Никосии – это творение знаменитого греческого скульптора Костаса Вароцоса, выполненное еще в 1983 году. «Поэт» стал предшественником другого известного произведения – скандальной скульптуры «Бегун», выполненной в той же технике и установленной недалеко от гостиницы «Хилтон» в Афинах.

«Поэт» — не единственное произведение Вароцоса в столице Кипра. На въезде в город, рядом с бывшим главным офисом Laiki Bank, стоит 12-метровое изваяние под названием Anelixi II, что можно перевести как «прогресс» или «развитие». Оно было установлено здесь в 1995 году. Сегодня жители Кипра усматривают горькую иронию в связи между названием скульптуры, историей Laiki Bank и экономическим кризисом начала 2010-х.

Если ехать по дороге, соединяющей деревни Мамонья, Трахипедула и Кидаси, то можно оказаться в месте, где дорога сужается и проходит между двумя скалами. В XIX веке здесь орудовала банда «Хасамбулья». Разбойники прятались за скалами и нападали на ничего не подозревающих крестьян или торговцев, отнимая у них скот, товары и деньги. Сейчас место абсолютно безопасно, оно впечатляет своей нерукотворной красотой и величием. Кстати, если поехать по этой дороге дальше, то она приведет вас в Троодос.

Калькаренит – это разновидность известняка. Его добывали в районе селения Маммари, которое сейчас находится внутри демилитаризованной зоны. Из калькаренита построены дома и храмы в Маммари и близлежащей деревне Геролаккос. К западу от Маммари, на территории Республики Кипр, располагается шахта под названием Вунарос, которую разрабатывали с 1920 по 1970 гг. В 1963 году Греческие вооруженные силы на Кипре (ЭЛДИК — так назывались постоянно присутствовавшие на Кипре греческие войска) использовали часть шахты в качестве тайника для хранения оружия. Сейчас это место находится под охраной Европейского союза и входит в программу Natura 2000. Здесь живет колония летучих мышей.

Недалеко от Айя-Напы, на территории муниципалитета Сотира, находятся катакомбы св. Феклы. Пещера названа так по близлежащему храму, который многие пары выбирают как место своей свадебной фотосессии. Пока что этот край еще сохранил очарование дикой природы, но совсем скоро цивилизация доберется и сюда – к западу от катакомб строят марину Айя-Напы. Чтобы попасть в пещеру, необходимо спуститься вниз по лесенке. Там вы обнаружите небольшое помещение, построенное в форме креста. Археологи уверяют, что здесь располагался небольшой храм или склеп.

Пещера сорока святых мучеников
На побережье к юго-востоку от Ксилофагу есть небольшая пещера, которую местные прозвали пещерой сорока мучеников. В ее стенах и на потолке легко можно различить окаменевшие кости. Жители близлежащих деревень считали, что это кости святых мучеников Севастийских. Каждый год 9 марта, на день памяти этих святых, здесь проходило торжественное богослужение до того момента, пока в середине XIX века архиепископ Кипрский не прекратил это, так как не было никакого подтверждения того, что останки действительно принадлежали святым. Как позже выяснилось, архиепископ оказался прав — сейчас научно доказано, что окаменелости представляют собой кости древних животных, в основном, кипрских карликовых бегемотов.

Сталактиты в Фини
На берегах реки Диаризос, в селении Фини, можно увидеть необычное для Кипра природное явление – сталактиты. Чтобы до них добраться, нужно спуститься к пойме реки, в местечко под названием Рексимо. Там вы увидите небольшие пещеры, у входа в которые на протяжении многих столетий и образовывались эти природные красоты, а стены пещер усеяны натуральными минералами красивого красного цвета. Отправляясь туда, надевайте удобную обувь, так как идти придется по бездорожью.

К северо-востоку от Мутулласа, в 2-3 км, находится селение Марафос, которое служило летней резиденцией для королей Кипра и их двора. Придворные женщины любили в это время посещать купальни на реке Марафаса, вода которых славилась своей целебной и омолаживающей силой. Местные прозвали это место «купальни Регины», по имени сказочной принцессы из кипрского фольклора.

Хлио
В этом же районе находится и место под названием Хлио, что значит «прохладное». Благодаря высокой концентрации серы, вода могла сохранять стабильную температуру и была теплее, чем в реке. Изначально это место было частью купален, но когда остров захватили османы, оно пришло в запустение, и местные жительницы начали ходить сюда стирать белье. Эта практика дожила до 1960-х годов.

Старый источник в Лайе
Лайя – это малоизвестная деревня недалеко от Лефкары. Раньше она славилась 12 источниками, из которых местные жители пополняли запасы воды. Сегодня сохранился только один – «Палья Вриси» или «старый источник», который восходит к 1709 году.
